Dear ORLC Congregation,
For the past 2 years I have been involved with We See You, San Diego. This is a charity that was brought to us by David and Angela. In the past, Pastor Dave, our Head Elder Jessica, David Conant and Pauline Hankel have all participated as well. Many of you have used the collection bin in the Narthex and thank you for the many clothing items you have donated.
We just received some exciting news. Two weeks ago, the Executive Director of We See You San Diego received a phone call from The Lucky Duck Foundation letting her know that We See You San Diego is being given $100,000 in a matching funds opportunity that is available to our organization through December 31st. To get the $100,000, we must also raise $100,000 ourselves. I have no doubt that God is making a way for us to have the resources we need to offer those who are living on the streets of San Diego hope and life transformative
opportunities in 2024.
I would love for you to see at a glance the incredible impact we have been able to make this year thanks to the generosity of many as we take on the homeless crisis in San Diego one precious life at a time.
We See You sponsors and pays for people to get into medical detox, for drugs or alcohol. The cost for a 10-day program is $3,000. Then when people are finished with detox, We See You pays for different rehab programs
depending on individual needs. These can range from $500 to $2,500 a month.
READY FOR MORE IN 2024
I am writing to ask if you would consider a monthly financial partnership with We See You next year and/or a year-end gift towards this immediate goal. We have the opportunity to double the impact of your gifts AND we are believing God to see double the number of lives transformed through the power of Jesus in 2024.
We See You San Diego is so many different things to so many different people. For Jefferson, it’s where he has found family, for Jennifer it’s where she finds hope, and for Randy, it’s where he feels seen. It’s where 3
generations of young and old come together to serve our neighbors in need. It’s where seeds of life
transformation begin and pathways to new life are offered to those who are addicted and living on the streets of San Diego. I have personally made several friendships among the guests that regularly attend our events, as well as the many volunteers we have.
Below is a statement from The Lucky Duck Foundation as to why they have decided to offer We See You this $100,000 match opportunity.
Thank you so much for your generosity.
God Bless all of you,
Dan Herman
