Matthew 17:1-13
SNEAK PEAK

Today is the last Sunday in Epiphany. It is transfiguration Sunday. Epiphany starts with the baptism of Jesus during which the Heavens open, The Holy Spirit descends as a dove and The Father’s voice rings out “This is my Son whom I love. With Him, I am well pleased.”

Here we have the humanity of Jesus peeled back to reveal the Glory of His eternal Divinity. This occurs high on a mountain in the presence of Peter, John, and James. When the three look up they see Jesus talking with Moses and Elijah. A voice from Heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love. Listen to Him!” A cloud of God’s glory covered them and the disciples fell face down to the ground.

Jesus came and touched them telling them not to be afraid. When they looked up, only Jesus remained. Jesus is the fulfillment of the law and the prophets.  In Jesus, all God’s promises are yes.  (2 Cor 1:20)   Join us today as we look at the Transfiguration of Jesus and what it means for us today.
