He is risen! He is risen indeed, Hallelujah! Throughout the centuries Christians have been shouting this joyful refrain celebrating the fact of the resurrection of the crucified Jesus Christ from the dead. Jesus is the sinless Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. Jesus offered His life for us by taking the price of our sin and dying on the cross in our place.
God is just and must deal with sin. Jesus was dead in the tomb from Friday until Sunday. On the third day God raised Him from the dead, just as Jesus had told His disciples. The resurrection shows us that God doesn’t save us from suffering and death, God saves us through our suffering and deaths.
Jesus’ resurrection is the first fruits of all who believe in Him. Through faith in Jesus Christ, we too have eternal life. Eternal life begins with the moment we come to faith in Jesus and extends beyond the grave of our earthly bodies. It is the best news ever! He is risen! And because Jesus is alive we too shall be raised! Hallelujah!
